by Lucy Andrews, AWAquitaine, and Dawn Parker, AWAquitaine
The Health Team has been building a foundation of awareness, education and advocacy for years, and in preparation for the 2026 Interim Meeting in Malta, co-chairs Lucy Andrews and Dawn Parker shared where the team has been, where it is now, and where it’s headed. You can view the slide presentation here.
Building the foundation
Over the past several years, the Health Team has published more than 100 articles covering topics from breast cancer to HIV/AIDS to climate-linked disease. The Team launched a webinar series addressing perimenopause, cervical cancer and HPV, and cognitive health. The popular “My Personal Story” series has given members a platform to share real experiences. Cross-team collaborations, including with Human Rights on trafficking, with Environment on climate and health, have highlighted the intersectionality of the Global Issues Teams.
2026 monthly themes

This year, the Health Team is organizing content around monthly themes to help clubs plan ahead:
- January: Healthy Weight

- April: Earth & Environmental Health

- September: Mental Health
Looking ahead
The Health Team is focused on expanding its reach and impact: through continued education, deeper member engagement, and new resources for clubs.
