The Cultural Volunteers Program was held in Chisnau, Moldova, June 13–20, 2026. Daughters, sons and a grandson of FAWCO members experienced the culture, community and volunteerism in a week-long itinerary designed and hosted by the International Women’s Club of Moldova (IWCM).
Five youths representing Ireland, France and Portugal travelled to Chisinau from June 13 to 20 for the week-long cultural and volunteer exchange program, combining civic engagement, cultural immersion and leadership development. Participants learned to navigate the public transportation system, get a taste of Moldavan cuisine and culture and even got to attend a charity benefit gala and be interviewed by a national television station.
The volunteers took part in meaningful service activities that highlighted social responsibility and community engagement. They completed 20 hours of community service volunteering at Casa Angelus, the Moldovan Parliament, the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) international program, Impact Activity at M4P HUB, QSI International School, Moldova for Peace and the UNHCR Moldova international humanitarian organization to prepare public events for World Refugee Day, and they attended the Charity Benefit Gala for Hospice Angelus.
Their cultural activities included a Chisinau walking/history tour, a day trip to the Orhei Nature and Cultural Reserve, a visit to the Moldovan Parliament, a visit to Scoreni village and other team-building activities.
The participants reflected on their experience through a group video and individual essays. Click to read their personal essays and to watch the video. (You must be logged in.)
