BWN visited the ARED Foundation, which works for the social and
occupational integration of women who are at a high risk of social
exclusion and who come from correctional centers and city social
services.
The ARED foundation was founded in 1994 at the Penitentiary Wad Ras (Barcelona) by five women prisoners, a volunteer, and a seamstress/dress designer who today is the President of ARED. The foundation works for the social and occupational integration of women who are at a high risk of social exclusion and who come from correctional centers and city social services. BWN applauds the ARED philosophy that every person is capable of overcoming bad circumstances and rising above misfortune. BWN members were impressed with the facility and the progress of the various training programs, and especially pleased to be able to see the training workshop which is partly sponsored by BWN.
