The International Women’s Club – Bogotá is delighted to announce that the City of Bogotá won big in Brazil! On November 5, the winners of the 2025 Earthshot Award were announced in Rio de Janeiro prior to the UN Climate Conference (COP30) in Belém. The City of Bogotá won in the Clean Our Air category.
The Earthshot Prize is an environmental award that celebrates and supports the work of environmental innovators around the world. Each year there are five winners across categories inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They cover the climate, our oceans, our air, the protection and restoration of nature, and waste reduction. Almost 2,500 entries were submitted for the 2025 prize, spanning 72 countries.
The 15 finalists (and eventually the five winners) were selected by the founder of The Earthshot Prize, Prince William, along with his 2025 Council. Winners of the Earthshot Prize receive £1 million in funding, helping to amplify and accelerate their environmental solutions. For the City of Bogotá, this means expanding the ZUMA clean air zones in the city’s Southwest.
According to EarthShot; “The City of Bogotá has implemented bold clean air policies to cut air pollution by 24 percent since 2018, redesigning how 8 million people move and live, and building a healthier, greener city.”
Felicidades to “our” Beautiful City!
