FAWCO Youth

AMERICANA is an educational program designed to reinforce a positive American identity by providing a safe environment for children to explore their American heritage and interact with other American youngsters. It builds language skills by introducing words, ideas, concepts as well as songs, games, literature (poems, stories...) that are not part of their everyday context, living overseas.

During 2014-15, Julia Meloy Goldsby, represented FAWCO Youth in a pilot program as a FAWCO Youth Ambassador. She assisted with volunteer programs, and encouraged sons and daughters of FAWCO members to get more involved in FAWCO's exciting opportunities for young people. FAWCO's Youth Program is proud to promote the ERGLW leadership development program for 9th and 10th grade girls: "empowering girls to be principled and socially conscious global leaders." The program will have two sessions in July 2014. The deadline for applications is March 21. See the Eleanor Roosevelt Center website for more information and to apply. 

Tracy Moede (AWC Hamburg) once worked as a Park Ranger at the Francis Scott Key Museum at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD. Based on her experience teaching kids about the National Anthem, her lesson plan is here.
