FAWCO is proud to be a non-governmental organization with special consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, a status supported by the work of our Global Issues Teams.

FAWCO's Resolutions and Recommendations for 2025 - 2027 establish our commitment to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide, especially in the areas of education, the environment, health and human rights. Therefore, our Global Issues Teams focus on these four issues.

The Global Issues Teams serve as a resource for our members. As you read the information in these pages, you might decide to get involved in one of the Teams. Join our team; pursue your passions.

This campaign began in 2010 in neighboring countries Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which had been torn apart by some of the worst atrocities of war that the world has seen in recent years. Women from opposing sides of war in these communities came together on a bridge joining the two countries in a plea for peace and to show that they could build bridges of hope for the future. Their action sparked a massive global movement through Women for Women International’s Join Me on the Bridge campaign to stand in solidarity with women around the world touched by war. Many groups choose March 8 -- International Women's Day -- for Join Me on th Bridge. If you don’t have a bridge nearby, you can create a “virtual” bridge, and the event can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. The symbolic gesture of joining together on a bridge reminds us that we are all connected and that together women can ensure that their rights are respected and collectively we can forge a new world. The Human Rights Team wants to know if your club plans a Bridge activity. Please send a description and/or photos of your event, and let us know if you have questions: .
