The Environment Team’s presentation at the 2026 Interim Meeting focused on highlights of the past year and what the team has planned for the coming year. The Environment Team also led a highly successful Biodiversity Workshop. You can view their Malta Interim Meeting presentation here.
2025 highlights
The past year was a busy one for the Environment Team:
- Book discussion: In April, the Environment Team hosted the Global Issues Book Discussion with Doughnut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st-Century Economist by Kate Raworth, exploring new ways to think about sustainable economic systems.
- COP30 in Brazil: Team members attended the UN Climate Change Conference in Belém, Brazil, both in person and virtually.
- Monthly articles: The team contributed regular content to the FAWCO website, keeping members informed on environmental topics throughout the year.
The FAWCO Environment Festival

One of the year’s highlights was the FAWCO Environment Festival, held October 28–31, 2025 at the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre in Scotland. Participants experienced hands-on conservation activities, explored the rewilding landscape, and connected with fellow FAWCO members who share a passion for environmental action.
The FAWCO Grove
FAWCO members have donated 199 trees and over £400 to the FAWCO Grove through Trees for Life, contributing to rewilding efforts in the Scottish Highlands.
What's ahead in 2026
The Environment Team has a full calendar planned:
- April 27: Book discussion of Pipe Dreams: The Urgent Global Quest to Transform the Toilet by Chelsea Wald, a member of AWC The Hague, who will join the discussion.
- May: Movie Night featuring On Sacred Ground, a film exploring the intersection of Indigenous rights and environmental protection.
- June: Open Meeting focused on the Earthshot Prize in Bogotá.
- November 9–20: COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye—another opportunity for FAWCO to engage with global climate policy.
Biodiversity Workshop
Maria and Rosie also led a collaborative Biodiversity Workshop based on the Biodiversity Collage. Participants worked together to understand biodiversity loss by examining four types of ecosystems and the impacts of human disturbance within it.
