UN Reps and Global Issues

UN Youth Reps

UN Youth Reps attend UN Youth Assemblies and other youth-related conferences and meetings at the UN in New York, and blog about their experiences.

Our Fall 2017 UN Youth Rep is Sammy Witt, son of Susan Stanley-Witt (AWC Hamburg). In Summer 2017, Paige Higbie (daughter of Erica Higbie, FAUSA) served as UN Youth Rep for FAWCO and was an Intern with NGO CSW New York. She is now studying for a Master's degree in international relations in Germnay, and serves as FAWCO's UN Youth Rep Coordinator.  Another FAWCO UN Youth Rep is Vali Mitsakis; her mother is a member of AWO Greece. She was active with the Model UN in high school, and she is now a college student in New York, and works at a Greek radio station, sometimes broadcasting news from the UN.

FAWCO's first UN Youth Rep was Gavin Higbie, the son of Erica Higbie (FAUSA). Gavin attended UN meetings live in New York and via webcast in 2014 and posted blogs about his experiences.

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)

FAWCO promotes ratification by the US Senate of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

FAWCO’s Youth Program

FAWCO's Youth Program involves the next generation of young women and men in the Youth Cultural Volunteers Program, engaging in volunteer activities that foster good global citizenship. This is a great way for your club’s teenagers to engage in global issues and get involved with other FAWCO youth.
