Rome 2015 - The Eternal Woman - updates

From March 25-29, 2015 FAWCO held its 42nd Biennial Conference in Rome, Italy. The American Women's Association of Rome, as the conference host, welcomed some 120 delegates and their guests, representing FAWCO’s 12,000 members worldwide.

After welcomes by the FAWCO President and Host Club AWA Rome, the FAWCO President and Treasurer give their annual reports, and our Opening Keynote Speaker Michele Bond, Acting Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs addresses the general session. This is followed by information sessions on US Issues and UN Issues. The day concludes with the nominations for the 2015-2017 Board of Directors for FAWCO and The FAWCO Foundation. The second day of the Conference starts with reports from FAWCO First and Second Vice-Presidents, The FAWCO Foundation and FAUSA, followed by keynote speaker Linda Douglass, AWAR's Honorary President and wife of the US Ambassador to Italy. The morning continues with parallel sessions for Club Presidents and FAWCO Reps and a workshop by Dr. Darius A. Arya on Ostia Antica. The afternoon begins with Face-2-Face - an interactive session for delegates to find out more about FAWCO and ends with workshops from Free The Girls, AODVCC and The FAWCO Foundation. The third morning of the Conference is devoted to Global Issues with reports from FAWCO Third Vice President and the Target Program.  It continues with UN Keynote Speaker Dr. Moez Doraid from UN Women and NGO Keynote Speaker Cindy McCain, wife of US Senator John McCain - both speaking about human rights for women issues. The afternoon begins with parallel sessions for Club Presidents and FAWCO Reps and ends with Club Development workshops. The FAWCO Foundation Fun-Raiser finishes off the full and stimulating day. The last day of the Conference starts with the election of the new Board of Directors and votes on FAWCO Resolutions &  Recommendations and budget for the next term. After Julia Goldsby, FAWCO Youth Ambassador, gives her report about her year visiting FAWCO Clubs, parallel sessions for Club President, FAWCO Reps and club members continue with the final AGM focuses on report from The FAWCO Foundation and announcement of Development Grants winners and Education Award recipients.
