Big news in our club is the publication of a compelling book, Boat People, by our member Carina Hoang.

Carina is a former boat person and refugee from Viet Nam. She recently travelled to NYC to receive the Silver Medal in the Independent Publisher Book Award for non-fiction for Boat People. In June Carina was appointed UNHCR Special Representative for Refugees (in good company with Angelina Jolie etc!). She is currently travelling the region on UNHCR speaking engagements. If she visits anywhere Region 11, she will contact the FAWCO rep there on our behalf.
