Although FAWCOs main activities are not specifically heath orientated, FAWCO was honored to be invited to a ground breaking meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) along with officials and select NGOs on February 23, 2006 as part of a health advisory group. WHO is seeking partnerships and alliances with some NGOs to create sustainable action in improving world health. As a result of this meeting a plan of action was drawn up. FAWCO's efforts in malaria prevention was noted by WHO in their new publication; "From Vision to Action: NGOs Promoting Health in a Globalized World." This publication is in support of the Bangkok Charter for Health Promotion in a Globalized World. Besides information on the charter, the booklet features best practices of 27 selected NGOs. FAWCO is the second NGO listed with information on our organization, our NetWorks initiative and our continued commitment to malaria prevention with specific mention of or partnership with BioVision and our support of the projects in Nyabondo and Malindi, Kenya using an integrated approach to malaria prevention. FAWCO has been invited to be part of the new WHO/NGO partnership and we will attend upcoming meetings.
