  International Women's Day 2012
Greetings!

On International Women's Day we are reminded of the Dalai Lama's words at the Vancouver Peace Summit in September of 2010, when he declared that western women will save the world.

No where was this more apparent then at the World Conference of Women's Shelters last week in Washington DC. Close to 1600 dynamic delegates from 95 countries attended the conference, mostly women.A powerful multi-national, multi-generational force dedicated to end violence against women around the world.

The conference was organized by the National Network to End Domestic Violence and the Global Network of Women's Shelters.

We were grateful to be able to co-present at the conference, have an exhibit and distribute our materials to shelters overseas and in the USA.

Of the 1600 attendees only 2 people attending the conference gave a voice to American women abused overseas, myself and Brooke Galloway, our Development & Policy Director. A committed but thin representation compared to the Americans overseas population of over 5 million civilians. We need more good women, and men, to join our efforts in ending violence against women & children in the Americans overseas population.
