The International Day of Peace (IDP) was established in 1981 to coincide with the opening of the UN General Assembly. It has become a day that “provides an opportunity for the individual, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date.” Earlier this year Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, declared that the theme of this year’s International Day of Peace would be: Peace, Youth, and Development with the slogan of “Peace = Future”
